Services

When hanging your art, let us help with the thinking.

Our art hanging service deals regularly with large, heavy art objects like mirrors, vintage posters and ornate framed paintings. We also install gallery track hanging systems. Framers and mirror suppliers frequently refer their customers to us, and we’re comfortable handling all kinds of art objects. So you can concentrate on where to place your art, while we think about how to hang it.

When installing art, our degree of input is tailored to your requirements. We can simply hang pictures where instructed or, by bringing ‘fresh eyes’ to the project, we can offer a different perspective, which often results in a transformation of your living space.

Hangin’ with Phil’s service includes:

  • Hanging large or heavy artworks.
  • Advice on layout and placement.
  • Installing mirrors and heavy art objects.
  • On-the-spot frame repairs, wiring and fittings.
  • ‘Salon’ wall arrangements
  • Exhibitions.
  • Gallery track systems and lighting.
  • Photo collections.
  • Advice on framing and artwork conservation.

Creating flow in your home

When creating a display of art we look for a common thread in the collection. Even in an eclectic mix there’s usually a hint of the owner’s tastes, whether it’s subject matter, style, age or, of course, frame. Rather than evenly distributing art throughout the home, we look at each space taking all its features into account while planning how to place both small and large works for best effect.

Can large pictures hang on small walls?

When this client downsized they wanted to keep their art collection. As part of the Hangin’ with Phil service we found a way to fill a small living room wall with key pieces by pairing colour and subject matter carefully. A whimsical final touch was created by placing the small painting over a lamp so that light would shine on the already illuminated figures in the picture.

Where does family fit in?

Whether you position your nearest and dearest at ‘front of house’ in the reception areas or out back in the kitchen/living area depends on the direction you lean when balancing art and memorabilia. One solution is to go halfway – up the stairs – you get to see their faces up close and the overall grouping adds a dramatic addition to what is often barren area.
